Boys Varsity Soccer opened the season on Saturday at Lakota West. The Firebirds scored early in the first half to take the lead, which didn’t last long. The Elks responded with a two-goal to take a 2-1 lead going into the half. The first goal was scored by Jack Drabenstott off of a free-kick. Then Drew Boettcher found Drew Gaydosh for a header. The Elks continued controlling possession in the second half and scored again with another assist by Drew Boettcher off the head of Quinn Hafner to end the match with a 3-1 victory. The JVA Boys Soccer team also traveled to Lakota West on Saturday and returned home with a 1-0 victory over the Firebirds.  Midway through the first half, Eddie Kuper lofted a free-kick from 30 yards out into the box to Taha Radouane who made a beautiful aerial finish to put the Elks ahead 1 - 0. The goal turned out to be the difference as both teams battled in the second half without a finish. In a sweltering season opener Saturday afternoon, the JVB boys soccer team collided with the Bombers of St. Xavier under their new JV coach, Caleb Saldivar. Deep in the first half, Centerville Elks freshman Colin Carter stripped St. X of the ball in the box, sent it to sophomore Milan Khachane who tapped it into the open net for a stunning 1-0 lead. In the opening minutes of the second half, St. Xavier answered back with a goal to tie, however, the intensity of play continued strong until the final whistle which ended in a 1-1 draw. Varsity and JVA return to Alumni Stadium for their home opener hosting Loveland on Saturday 8/28 at 5:30 & 7:15 pm.   While JVB hosts Springboro on Monday 8/23 at 7:15 pm and Loveland on Saturday 8/28 at 4:00 pm.
