Nominations Needed for Gerry Hall Service Award

The Hall family is currently seeking nominations for this year's Gerry Hall Service Award. The purpose of this award is to recognize one adult individual on a yearly basis who has made long term positive contributions to the Centerville High School Athletic Program and/or the Centerville Community athletic programs.

Throughout his adult life, Gerry Hall loved athletics and for many years he served the Centerville community. Gerry firmly believed in playing an active role in the enhancement of his community and he was committed to improving the quality of life for all Centerville citizens. During the early development of the Centerville-Washington Township Parks, Gerry served on the Park Board and he took great pride in the excellent recreational facilities that have evolved over the years.

In addition to his civic responsibilities, Gerry Hall actively participated in youth sports as a coach in baseball and basketball. Whereas many parents became supporters of youth sports due to the involvement of their children, Gerry’s involvement went well beyond that point. Long after his children had graduated from Centerville High School, he continued to make a positive contribution to Centerville athletics. For many years, Gerry announced Centerville High School football games and for 32 years he announced every home boys’ soccer match. This involvement led Gerry to become known as the “Golden Voice” of Centerville High School Boys Soccer. With his passing on December 31, 2004, Centerville lost that rare individual that gives of himself for the sheer joy of giving back to the community. His dedication and commitment to Centerville High School Athletics and the Centerville community will be sorely missed.

To honor his memory and the positive impact he has had on the Centerville community the Gerry Hall Service Award has been established.
